Jean Fruth started in a darkroom printing other people’s photos. Today she’s a Sony Ambassador, baseball photographer, Grassroots Baseball co-founder, and documentary director — a career built on following the story wherever it leads and saying yes before she felt ready.

Jean Fruth is a Sony Ambassador, baseball photographer, and co-founder of Grassroots Baseball, an organization dedicated to documenting and preserving the stories of the game at every level. Her work has taken her from portrait studios to Major League Baseball sidelines to the director’s chair of a documentary about women in baseball. She shoots the Sony A1 with a 70-200mm f/2.8, her self-described workhorse combination, and brings the same storytelling instincts she developed in portrait work to every frame she makes on a diamond.
